collected the comics and books for years but the comic lost the plot when started introducing pop stars in to the storylines. before i started boozing i used to be able to name the melchester rovers team. can still remember blackie gray, mervyn wallace, paco diaz, noel baxter, vernon elliot and nat gosden :.)

Straight up - my mate was the cartoonist for Roy of the rovers and live two streets away from me now

Impressive huh - he is also a mad hammer and actually worked at the hammers part time too

Billy's boots was tiger when I was reading them

May have merged the two at some point. I switched off when Geoff boycott became chairman of melchester rovers

Mighty Mouse was alright, classic big man little man with Hot Shot Hamish

Billy's Boots was excellent, lot of one man teams he played in though, shit defences.

I used to like Playmaker, he was quality

I still have the last issue of the comic knocking about somewhere, poor old Racey and his famous left foot :(

Was Billy's Boots in ROTR and was it him who loved his bubble and squeak?

Was always more of a Beano and Dandy boy when really young, so only got into them when a little older.

"Mighty Mouse could fuck off though"

That was shit wasn't it?

the annual was always the first Christmas present I opened as a kid. Got a load of the comics stashed away as well, pick out one every few years, go to a random page, read a couple of the words and know exactly what's coming on the next page...
